Ann Spurgas
Long-time student Ann Spurgas exemplifies the qualities that define excellence in the sport of driving. Dedicated and consistent, she places the wellbeing of her horses above all else, training diligently in all conditions as she continues to refine her skill. Her horses hold her in equally high regard, and she has earned the affectionate nickname "the Carrot Lady" among the barn community for her habit of carrying — and generously sharing — a bag of baby carrots wherever she goes.
Although Ann and her husband, Joe, maintain a farm of their own, she chooses to keep her two driving horses at Bliss Combined Driving, where she has become a valued member of our community. The drivers here take pride in supporting and encouraging one another, and Ann's presence reflects that spirit well.
This season, we look forward to watching Ann compete with her newest project, "Harley," a striking black pony whose progress under her training we are eager to follow.
